, Homework Routine:
Students will have math, spelling, and reading homework every night, Monday - Thursday.
They should be able to turn in their homework without a parent/teacher reminding them.
Students should be able to complete homework independently. However, please write a note at the bottom if they are struggling with a concept. The math sheet should take 5-15 minutes.
Homework should be done neatly and in pencil. Papers that are crumpled, done in pen/crayon/marker/etc., with messy writing, or with excessive errors will need to be redone.
Birthdays:
According to our school's policy, you may come to the classroom during lunch and read a book on your child's birthday. Please do not bring in any treats or goody bags. Thank you.
Third Grade Philosophy:
I strive to create a classroom where students learn not only how to read, write, multiply, and spell but to solve problems, create positive memories, build self esteem, and develop a love of learning. In our classroom, students learn through logical consequences, which we define as consequences that help you learn from your mistakes. Students are also encouraged to become independent and to gradually take ownership of their own academic success. We know that every student is unique and learns differently, therefore we reflect that in the classroom with differentiated assignments and activities. Each student is assessed and met on their level using a variety of teaching techniques: whole groups, 1-1 conferences, self selected assignments, and flexible grouping. It is my hope that every individual will be able to look back on the school year and see all the ways in which they've grown academically, socially, and emotionally.
